Kingston Heath Golf Club - Australia's #1 Golf Course
On Tuesday 25 October 2011, a full field of corporate sponsors and celebrities will attend the annual Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer Golf Classic at Kingston Heath Golf Club.
Among the players are some famous faces including tennis champions and our very own Ambassadors, John Fitzgerald and Todd Woodbridge, as well as Ambassador, Geoff ‘Coxy’ Cox of Coxy’s Big Break, will hit the course – helping to raise funds and awareness about Australia’s most prevalent internal cancer.
According to Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer Patron, Emeritus Professor Adrian Polglase, these golf events have raised over $650,000 for cancer research, education and prevention programs; and well on the way to achieving the ‘$1 million in 10 years’ fundraising target.
“The Golf Classic offers corporate groups a unique opportunity to play at a world-class golf course and support Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer in its mission to save lives,” said Professor Polglase.
The day includes ‘Beat the Pro’ and ‘Hole in One’ competitions as well as an on-course BBQ and refreshments to keep players entertained. The event concludes with dinner, a fundraising auction and prize presentations. Funds raised from the Golf Classic will support bowel cancer research as well as conducting community awareness campaigns.
Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer appreciates the support of its valued sponsors, suppliers and players for their fantastic support of this event.
Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer is an initiative of Cabrini Health.

Now in its 11th year, Bowel Cancer Awareness Week is an annual public education initiative of Bowel Cancer Australia, recognised by Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer and other prominent Australian bowel cancer awareness groups. The Week aims to raise public awareness of a disease that claims the lives of almost 100 Australians every week.
Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer wants all Australians to:
- Be aware
- Get tested
- Talk to their GP’s
Did you know?
- Bowel cancer is the most common cause of internal cancer affecting Australian men and women.
- Bowel cancer is Australia’s second biggest cancer killer after lung cancer.
- One Australian dies every two hours from this disease.
- Australia has the highest incidence of bowel cancer in the world, but the good news is that more than 90% of people survive bowel cancer if it is detected early and treated before the disease has spread.
- Currently fewer than 40% of bowel cancers are detected early.
- Testing is simple, anonymous and inexpensive, and can be done with a self-testing kit at home without embarrassing or invasive procedures.
Bowel Cancer Awareness Week has a positive message – saving lives through early detection – as bowel cancer is one of the most curable types of cancer if found early.
Activities during the Week promote and encourage Australians who are at a higher risk of developing the disease or experiencing symptoms to consult their GP.
